Despite scoreboard, Braves are true champions
If it were Hollywood, Friday night's game would have ended differently. The Braves would have won. Probably on a final second Joey Green field goal from 50 yards with Darrell Solorio present in a wheel chair.
But this contest at Huyck Stadium was real.
In this one, the CIF Div. X football championship game ended with the Lompoc Braves losing to Crespi 24-14 much as they fell to the Celts 25-8 last year.

A Brave Effort
pair of costly first-half turnovers and the inability to move the ball on a stingy Crespi defense prevented the Lompoc High football team from completing a dream season as the Braves fell 24-14 at Huyck Stadium in Friday night's CIF Div. X championship game.

Conqs look back on great season
Sitting in his garage Sunday Cabrillo football coach Don Cross worked on Christmas lights instead of game plans.
The Conquistador season which ended Friday night in a 54-39 titanic struggle with Crespi marked the first time in nine years the Conqs reached the CIF semifinals, or defeated Lompoc in the Big Game, or won a share of a league title.

Crespi's run continues
When one thinks of Crespi of Encino running backs, the first name is Russell White. The former Celts great owns four of the school's top rushing totals, including the only 300-yard game - until Friday in the Southern Section Div. X semifinal at Pierce College.
